Authors Unlimited

We have finally arrived to the much anticipated event - Authors Unlimited. Being held at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, this event will bring together teens, YA authors and librarians in the community for a fun filled day! Last year's event was a huge success and this year it is going to be even better.

This a free event and registration begins at 10am. Come down and spend the day with some of your favorite YA authors!

Pictures from the 2012 Fran Romer Workshop

The 2012 Fran Romer Workshop took place last Friday at the Brentwood Public Library. The theme of the event was RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES. We had an excellent turn out of YA librarians and enthusiast and were lucky to have Caroline Bock, author LIE, speak with us about her writing process and the creation of LIE. The book discussions on other important titles influenced by current events and hot topics were robust. Here are some photos of the event:

2012 Suffolk County Student Film Festival

Do you know of any teens who love making movies? Who are great with a video camera? Or want to be actors? Consider spreading the word about the 2012 Suffolk County Student Film Festival. Submissions are currently being accepted now until June 7th.

The Festival will take place at Sachem Public Library on Thursday, June 28 from 6pm - 9pm.

Long Island Library Conference

Are you planning on attending the Long Island Library Conference on May 3rd? If you are, make sure to stop by the YASD table. Our signature Prize Wheel will be there for you to spin for a chance to win some great prizes. We will also be raffling off gift baskets and more throughout the day.

Just Announced: Registration Extended!

The deadline to register for the Fran Romer Workshop has been extended to Thursday April 19! This promises to be a fantastic event featuring booktalks of titles your teens will love, and special guest speaker Caroline Bock who will discuss her novel L.I.E. and sign books!

The committee has worked very hard and is preparing wonderful book discussion sessions that will most certainly be informative and interesting.

Contact hours will be awarded for the workshop.
